Dream Big. Then Make It Real.

Supporting breakthrough educational endeavors for students and educators, the Education Legacy Fund consists of experienced individuals with expertise and passion for innovation (see “Our Advisors & Board”).

Our focus is on transformational programs and initiatives that are evaluated and monitored for long-term effects — a legacy to increase access to knowledge and the development of life skills in the Valley.

Students Supported at the Italy Kickoff Celebration

On May 9th, 2024, the Education Legacy Fund sponsored an Italy Kickoff Celebration from 6:00 - 7:30PM at All Aboard Westcliffe, 110 Rosita Avenue. Dinner was FREE for students and their families. Donations were accepted at the Door for any amount to help offset administrative costs.

The Education Legacy Fund shared a short presentation and speakers (both students and administrators) highlighted the importance of educational enrichment programs for lifelong learners of all ages in Custer County. Each traveling student also got a T-shirt! Follow us on Facebook to learn more.

Expanding Horizons

The Education Legacy Fund supports out-of-the-ordinary educational journeys for students to expand their horizon, curiosity, and interaction with fresh ideas and experiences.

ELF PROGRAMS FUNDED FOR 2024:
Pueblo Historical Aviation Museum, April: Gifted and Talented school students will explore one of Colorado’s largest aircraft collections.
Italy Trip, June: 24 school and home-schooled students will journey to Italy over the summer led by educator Heather Ramer.
Camp Jackson Trip, May: Custer County School’s 5th Grade Students will attend Camp Jackson in the San Isabel National Forest.

Professional Development for Educators

The Education Legacy Fund aims to seek out unique programs that challenge educators to think out of the box and encourage creativity and innovation. ELF assists in raising educator skills and knowledge by identifying and funding key professional development programs that would have been out of reach otherwise.

ELF PROGRAMS FUNDED FOR 2024: The Education Legacy Fund provided funding for educators to attend the Colorado Writing Program, a two-week immersive writing workshop in Westcliffe.

Technology for Learning

TECHNOLOGY is a critical component of modern education. The Education Legacy Fund has initiated and funded multiple technology initiatives in support of Custer County Schools. These programs support student readiness for the digital world and IT requirements in the workplace.

“With the extraordinary support from the Education Legacy Fund,
we have been able to serve our students better than ever.”

— Mike McFalls, Former Superintendent, Custer County Schools
