The Education Legacy Fund is thankful for the generosity of the Wet Mountain Valley community through the 2024 Spirit Campaign. ELF received $63,834.47 in total donations! ELF is also proud to announce a $250,000 donation as seed money for an endowment fund. This launches a fundraising campaign for an endowment to continue supporting breakthrough educational endeavors in the Valley.

These donations reflect the value our local community places on education.  The Education Legacy Fund supports all students in the valley, including home schoolers and educational institutions. We are grateful to all of our donors who make this possible! Follow on Facebook for more news!

Dream Big. Then Make It Real.

Supporting breakthrough educational endeavors for students and educators, the Education Legacy Fund consists of experienced individuals with expertise and passion for innovation (see “Our Team”).

Our focus is on transformational programs and initiatives that are evaluated and monitored for long-term effects — a legacy to increase access to knowledge and the development of life skills in the Valley.

Expanding Horizons

The Education Legacy Fund supports out-of-the-ordinary educational journeys for students to expand their horizon, curiosity, and interaction with fresh ideas and experiences.

ELF PROGRAMS FUNDED FOR 2025:
Costa Rica Trip, March: ELF is pleased to provide scholarships for 18 students from Custer County School and home school to go to Costa Rica.  The students will spend 9 days in Costa Rica, departing on March 20th and returning on March 29th.  Heather Ramer has organized another exciting educational trip through EF Tours.

California Trip, May: ELF is excited to offer partial funding to send 8 Gifted and Talented Students on a trip to California for immersive experiences in Art, Science, the ocean and the unique geology of Santa Barbara. They will visit the Page Museum and the La Brea Tar Pits along with the Santa Barbara Zoo from May 26-30, 2025.  Shelley Green has organized an exceptional trip for the students.

Camp Jackson Trip, September: The fifth graders are excited to attend Camp Jackson for the third year on September 24th and 25th!  It's always great to begin the year with team building experiences in an outdoor education environment.

Professional Development
for Educators

The Education Legacy Fund aims to seek out unique programs that challenge educators to think out of the box and encourage creativity and innovation. ELF assists in raising educator skills and knowledge by identifying and funding key professional development programs that would have been out of reach otherwise.

Technology for Learning

TECHNOLOGY is a critical component of modern education. The Education Legacy Fund has initiated and funded multiple technology initiatives in support of Custer County Schools. These programs support student readiness for the digital world and IT requirements in the workplace.

“With the extraordinary support from the Education Legacy Fund,
we have been able to serve our students better than ever.”

— Mike McFalls, Former Superintendent, Custer County Schools
